【摘要】:Thetwoprimaryusesofthree-elementstraingagerosettesare(a)todeterminethedirectionsandmagnitudesoftheprincipalsurfacestrainsand(b)todetermineresidualstresses.ResidualstressesaretreatedinaseparateASTMstandard,TestMethodE837.Thispracticedefinesareferenceaxisforeachofthetwoprincipaltypesofrosetteconfigurationsusedandpresentsequationsfordataanalysis.Thisisimportantforconsistencyinreportingresultsandforavoidingambiguityindataanalysis-especiallywhencomputersareused.Thereareseveralpossiblesetsofequations,butthesetpresentedhereisperhapsthemostcommon.
