【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedfordeterminingtheabilityofafenestrationcomponent,fenestrationassembly,orimpactprotectionsystemtoresistspecifiedimpactenergies.Thetestapparatus,referencedherein,iscapableofapplyingavarietyofimpactstoaspecimenastheimpactorheadmaybefabricatedintoavarietyofshapesandfrommaterialshavingdifferentdegreesofhardness.Theuserisabletosimulateaspecifictypeofimpactandtheimpactenergywiththisapparatus.Thereisaneedtocorrelatethedamagetofenestrationassembliesfromtheimpactsinquestionwiththeimpactsdeliveredbythetestapparatusinorderforthetestresultstobeproperlyinterpreted.Duetothenatureofthetestapparatus,caremustbetakenwheninterpretingtheresultsofaspecifictesttoactualperformanceinthefield.Theimpactenergiesinvolvedinapendulumimpactcannotbedirectlytransferredtoimpactenergiesappliedbyotherdevices,forexample,projectiles;therefore,theperformanceofaspecimentotheimpactsappliedbythistestmethodarenotdirectlytransferabletoperformanceinactualuse.Theapplicationofimpactenergiestoaspecimen,asappliedinthistestmethod,however,doesprovidevaluableinformationregardingtheabilityofthespecimentoresistdamagewhenimpacted.Note18212;UseTestMethodE1886fordeterminingtheperformanceoffenestrationcomponentssubjectedtoimpactsfromwindbornedebrisinawindstormenvironment.Whenusingthistestmethodtocomparetheperformanceofproductsthesameimpactnose,impactdevicemassandimpactspeedmustbeappliedtoeachproducttested.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheevaluationoftheresistanceoffenestrationcomponents,fenestrationassemblies,andimpactprotectionsystemstospecifiedimpactenergies.1.2Window,glazeddoor,andskylightassembliescoveredbythistestmethodalsoincludeindividualcomponents,suchastheglazingin-fill.Thisstandarddoesnopurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
